Product Description

MCI®-2005 Gel is a water-based, organic, corrosion inhibiting gel for protection of metallic reinforcement in concrete structures. MCI ®-2005 Gel utilizes MCI®-2005 admixture chemistry in a gel format for injection into cracks and cores in concrete. MCI®-2005 Gel is designed to get MCI® molecules closer to embedded reinforcing steel to provide corrosion protection more quickly than surface applied products. When injected into concrete, MCI®- 2005 Gel will migrate to adjacent areas and form a protective, molecular layer on surrounding embedded metals. The layer inhibits corrosion, thereby reducing further corrosion and extending the service life of the structure.

Packaging & Storage

Available in 10.3 oz (304 mL) caulking tubes, 5 gallon (19 L) pails, and 55 gallon (208 L) drums.

Store away from direct sunlight and at ambient temperatures – above 32 ⁰F (0 ⁰C) and up to 131 ⁰F (55 ⁰C).

How it works

MCI®-2005 GEL is an organic corrosion inhibitor. It is considered ambiodic (mixed), meaning it protects both anodic and cathodic areas within a corrosion cell. MCI®-2005 Gel contains a blend of amine salts of carboxylic acids which form a protective layer on embedded reinforcement, delaying the onset of corrosion as well as reducing existing corrosion rates. MCI®-2005 is effective at enhancing the durability and extending the service life of concrete structures exposed to corrosive environments (carbonation, chlorides, and atmospheric attack).

Application

MCI®-2005 is best added with the mix water into ready mix concrete at the plant. Alternatively, it can be dosed into the ready mix truck using portable dosing equipment. Concrete should be mixed thoroughly before placement.
